[Taiwan Startup Investment Watch] Notable Deals, Jul-Aug 2026

Taiwan’s early-stage investment market has long faced challenges due to limited transparency. To address this issue, the FINDIT Research Team at the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research has collected and consolidated investment data from multiple sources in recent years. In addition to publishing annual overviews of startup funding activity and tracking new early-stage capital inflows, the team provides monthly updates on funding deals disclosed through public sources. Through these sustained efforts, FINDIT seeks to enhance market transparency and bridge information gaps between startups and investors.

The latest FINDIT report recorded three notable startup funding deals in Taiwan between July and August 2026. Syncell, an international developer of advanced biotech instruments based in Taiwan, raised the largest amount during the period, securing US$20 million. Key highlights from the period are summarized below.

  • Lightest Biomedical Co., Ltd., a developer of antibiotic adjuvants and novel drugs for Parkinson’s disease, completed a seed round.
  • beBit TECH, Inc., a leading AI automation technology and consulting firm in Asia, secured more than NT$100 million in funding.
  • Syncell (Taiwan) Inc., a developer of unique spatial proteomics technology, completed a US$20 million Series A+ round.

Lightest Biomedical Co., Ltd. Completes Seed Round

Funding News

Lightest Biomedical Co., Ltd. announced on July 1 the completion of a seed round. The round was led by international accelerator Mosaic Venture Lab, with support from the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association, which facilitated the participation of the National Development Fund (NDF) as a co-investor.

Lightest Biomedical is a subsidiary of Genomics Bioscience & Technology Co., Ltd. specializing in innovative drug development. The company is developing proprietary biotechnology platforms to make drug development more efficient and accelerate early-stage development. Several candidates have already been identified and are progressing toward preclinical toxicology studies. Its most promising programs focus on novel antibiotics and treatments for Parkinson’s disease, addressing two major areas of unmet medical need worldwide: antimicrobial resistance and age-related neurodegenerative diseases.

The proceeds will help expand the application of the company’s AI lab capabilities and further digitalize its R&D processes, allowing research activities to be managed remotely and experimental conditions to be optimized more quickly. The company expects these improvements to increase the efficiency of early-stage drug development and make more effective use of capital.

Lead investor Mosaic Venture Lab noted that Lightest Biomedical is one of the few biotech startups to integrate AI models and structured experimental data early in the drug development process, demonstrating both technological strength and commercialization potential. Looking ahead, Lightest Biomedical plans to accelerate its drug development programs, prepare applications for U.S. clinical trials, expand into overseas markets, and engage with international investors. Ultimately, the company aims to bring biotechnology developed in Taiwan to the global healthcare market.

beBit TECH, Inc. Secures Over NT$100 Million in Funding

Funding News

beBit TECH, Inc. announced on July 13 that it had completed a strategic spin-off from Japan’s beBit Group, established Taiwan as its global headquarters, and secured more than NT$100 million in its first funding round. The round was led by Fubon Financial Holding Venture Capital, with participation from other strategic partners.

Founded in 2000, beBit Group has long specialized in digital technology and customer experience management, with solutions spanning customer data insights, AI applications, and a no-code Customer Data Platform (CDP). After raising JPY 2.5 billion (approximately NT$542 million) in external funding in 2020, the group acquired Taiwanese startup Omniscient Cloud Technologies, leading to the establishment of beBit TECH.

In response to rapid advances in generative AI, beBit TECH has developed an Agentic AI architecture centered on OmniSegment CDP, which provides the foundation for data governance and system orchestration. Integrated with AgentBit, its intelligent agent, the system combines data integration and analytics with real-time decision-making and execution in a next-generation enterprise data platform. The company’s solutions are now widely used in e-commerce and retail and by multinational brands, and it continues to expand in Japan and other overseas markets.

Following the funding round, beBit TECH will focus on three priorities: expanding into more industries, enhancing OmniSegment CDP’s decision analytics and AI orchestration capabilities, and scaling the use of Agentic AI to help businesses improve data governance and operational efficiency. The company also plans to increase its market penetration in Japan and Southeast Asia and continue its international expansion with Taiwan serving as its global center for operations and R&D. Looking ahead, beBit TECH plans to pursue an IPO in Taiwan as part of its long-term growth strategy, while contributing to the global competitiveness of Taiwan’s software industry.

Syncell Inc. Completes US$20 Million Series A+ Round

Funding News

Syncell Inc. announced on August 10 the completion of a US$20 million Series A+ round, led by Diamond Biofund. The proceeds will support further development of its spatial proteomics platform, new product development, and global commercialization efforts as the company continues to expand internationally.

Founded in 2020, Syncell is a Taiwan-based multinational company specializing in advanced biotechnology instruments. The company markets its products globally under the SYNCELL brand and has built a customer base in the U.S., Germany, Belgium, Israel, and other markets. It has also established its first international Center of Excellence in New York, where North American customers can evaluate its products.

Syncell’s flagship product, Microscoop, uses automated AI microscopy technology capable of targeting proteins within individual cells. It can identify more than 1,000 potential biomarkers at nanoscale spatial resolution, helping researchers discover potential therapeutic targets and accelerate drug development for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cancer. As spatial proteomics becomes increasingly important in life sciences research, Microscoop allows researchers to examine the distribution and interactions of proteins within cells at higher resolution, providing deeper insight into the mechanisms underlying complex diseases. The technology is already being used in research on neurodegenerative diseases and cancer and has been adopted by a number of international pharmaceutical companies and research institutions.

The round was led by Diamond Biofund, which first invested in Syncell in 2023 and remains the company’s largest institutional shareholder. Over the past two years, Syncell has seen equipment sales and revenue grow severalfold and has built sales teams and a network of partners across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The company has also formed a strategic partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global provider of biotech instruments and equipment, to further expand its international reach.

The proceeds will help Syncell further develop its spatial proteomics platform and launch a new generation of products with faster analysis and higher resolution, allowing researchers to work more efficiently. The company also plans to expand the use of its technology in neurodegenerative disease research, cancer research, and drug development, while bringing its Taiwan-developed technology to more markets worldwide.
