RADIALIF develops an invisible smart sensing infrastructure designed to address Japan's aging population and growing home healthcare needs. Long-term care providers in Japan face challenges including labor shortages, limited care facility capacity, labor-intensive nighttime monitoring, privacy concerns associated with cameras, and the inconvenience of wearable devices. RADIALIF employs contactless, camera-free, and wearable-free sensing technology that can be embedded into mattresses, sofas, chairs, furniture, bathrooms, hotel rooms, vehicle seats, and smart living environments. The system continuously monitors heart rate, respiration, sleep quality, bed-exit events, and activity trends, enabling caregivers to monitor residents in real time while reducing workload. Compared with cameras, wearable devices, and conventional pressure mats, RADIALIF offers superior privacy protection, seamless long-term monitoring, and cross-industry integration. The solution has already been deployed in long-term care centers and quarantine hotels, with plans to validate and commercialize the technology in Fukuoka through local Japanese partners.
